You will
notice that, since New Labour came to power, not a single
leading Cabinet member or party 'heavy hitter' has appeared
on the programme (BBC's Question Time). Spin, not face-to-face
confrontations with the voters, is the Government's chosen
method of communication. Ordinary
people are dangerous. Ordinary people might ask a question
which throws a politician 'off message'; the Cabinet member
might reveal himself or herself to be a human being like
us, and not a programmed android. Worse still, he or she
might tell the truth.

Stop
trying to bully us over MMR fears
by
Susan Tompkins of Horncastle, Leics. (Letter to Daily Mail, May
24, 2004)
I was
full of sympathy for Carol Buxton, who lost her young daughter as
a resut of the MMR Jab. It was interesting to see that her daughter's
first adverse reaction to the vaccine was diagnosed by the GP as
'slapface syndrome' - that's what I was told when the same thing
happened to my son, Joshua. It was also within a matter of days
of having the jab that he developed a measles rash, fever and severe
vomiting for five days. From beieng a cheerful, normal baby he was
diagnosed with autism and a 'leaky gut'.
As these
symptoms are listed by the MMR manufacturers as possible side-effects,
why do GP's refuse to acknowledge them? They are supposed to notify
the Department of Health of all adverse reactions to vaccines. Not
only was this not done in my son's case, but the whole incident
is absent from his medical records.
As many
of the rsearch studies done by the Government rely on statistics
from medical records, how many adverse reactions have been mis-diagnosed,
altering the outcome of the research? I'm glad Mrs Buxton did get
to prove her case, even though no amount of compensation can ever
bring her daughter back. It is disgraceful that parents who try
to take legal action are being bullied by the drug companies - it
makes you wonder what they are scared of.
It's
time the Government allowed claims for autism under the Vaccine
Damage Scheme.
